Two religious liberty groups have come out in support of a Illinois high school district's policy prohibiting a male student from changing and showering with female students. A controversy between the the school district and the federal government developed when the ACLU filed suit over the policy. The Thomas More Society and the Alliance Defending Freedom came out in support of the policy Monday.
Mike Huckabee says it's inconsistent to let states ignore federal marijuana laws while putting Kim Davis in jail. He says, "Let me ask you this. How come it’s that liberals are okay with not keeping the federal law when it comes to the marijuana laws and it’s OK for the states to ignore it, but if it comes to a county clerk in Kentucky who doesn’t believe that she can abide by a federal court ruling, not even a law, then she goes to jail?"
Houston Texans owner Bob McNair, and former Houston Astros and six-time MLB All-Star Lance Berkman, oppose an ordinance that would allow men to use women-designated restrooms in Houston. Berkman has appeared in a television ad asking Houstonians to “Vote ‘No’ on Proposition 1.” He ends the ad by saying, “No men in women’s bathrooms. No boys in girls’ showers or locker rooms.”
A law professor at Jesuit-run Fordham University in New York is appealing for an end to the institution of marriage in America, which he describes as “religious, gendered, and bourgeois.” Ethan J. Leib published his essay in the Fordham Law Review, suggesting that civil government get out of the marriage business, leaving it wholly to the private sphere and only recognizing "civil unions."
Canada’s Girl Guide organization has produced guidelines for male members that leaves it up to the troubled youths themselves to decide which washrooms they will use and whom they will sleep with on group excursions. Efforts to ban parents from subjecting their children to conversion therapy got a boost on Thursday from a U.S. government report that said the practice was dangerous and must stop. "We believe that conversion therapy for young people is not in their best interest, and the facts and the evidence supports that," White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said.

Ben Carson says the acceptance of same-sex "marriage" could lead to allowing more than two partners and said more changes could follow. “If you change the definition of marriage for one group, what defense do you have for the next group that comes along and wants it changed?” he asked. “Can you say, ‘Oh no we’re just changing it for one group and it’ll be this way forever’ – how is that fair? Federal Judge David Bunning has ordered Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear to decide whether "gay marriage" licenses issued by Rowan County clerk Kim Davis’ office were valid. A lawyer of one of Davis’ deputies said in a September court filing that Davis changed the forms by dropping her name as well as the county’s, weakening the legality of the licenses. A spokesman said that Gov. Steve Beshear will file a response.
The fight to destroy gender distinction is underway. At issue is locker room access for a male high school student in Illinois' High School District 211. The student asked that he receive full access to the girls' locker room. Citing privacy concerns, the district denied the request and instead offered a separate room where he could change. Lawyers for Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis say the altered marriage licenses her office issued to same-sex couples are valid because they have been recognized by Kentucky's highest elected officials. Last month, lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union questioned the validity of these altered licenses and asked U.S. District Judge David Bunning to order Davis and her employees to reissue them.
A probate judge in Alabama is suggesting the federal government issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, rather than order the State of Alabama to do it. His appeal to the Board of Directors is clearly the end game, but it’s not clear how long it will take, and the exact process is also unclear.
As many as 14 Alabama counties have probate judges who are refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. "As a probate judge, I am currently compelled, and I believe wrongfully, to issue federally-created same-sex marriage licenses or face an onerous federal civil rights action," John Enslen, an Elmore County judge, wrote in his petition to the Alabama Supreme Court.
A group of over sixty prominent legal scholars have released a statement calling on public officials and American citizens to resist the US Supreme Court’s ruling last term in the Obergefell v Hodges case that falsely claimed to redefine marriage for every state in the nation. The scholars said that the Obergefell ruling is "lacking anything remotely resembling a warrant in the text, logic, structure, or original understanding of the Constitution" and "must be judged anti-constitutional and illegitimate."
A bill that would protect churches in Florida who refuse to host a wedding or reception based on religious beliefs won its first approval Wednesday. While pastors and lawmakers acknowledged the state and federal constitutions protect churches, some pastors expressed fear that a future legal decision could diminish that protection and praised the bill for giving them added protection. The bill has one more committee stop before it can be considered by the full House.
Hillary Rodham Clinton says that jail was the "right thing" for a Kentucky clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Speaking in Iowa Wednesday, the Democratic presidential hopeful said Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis was "treated as she should have been treated."
A transgender student who wanted to use the boy’s bathroom and locker room at her school in Nevada was recently denied permission to do so by the school board. The American Civil Liberties Union has threatened legal action, claiming the school board action violates state and federal anti-discrimination laws. Apple Inc.’s chief executive, Tim Cook, said the United States still has a long way to go in the fight for "gay rights." The country hasn’t achieved equality, despite the Obergefell ruling, he said Saturday night in a speech to the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, D.C. "Discrimination doesn’t simply fade. It has to be pushed back, challenged, overcome, and then kept at bay," He said.
At a recent conference on homosexuality, Dr. Albert Mohler voiced his opinion on psychological counseling for homosexuals, saying that in many cases same-sex attraction cannot be flipped like a switch. "By God's grace, that might happen over time as a sign of God's work within the life of that individual.
