Please pray for the justices of the Supreme Court of Alabama - Chief Justice Moore, Justice Stuart, Justice Bolin, Justice Parker, Justice Murdock, Justice Shaw, Justice Main, Justice Wise, and Justice Bryan. They still have the opportunity to say no to the same-sex marriage ruling and their decision should be any day now! They are under a great amount of pressure and tension and we pray that they will have the courage and resolve to do what they know is right. Very few know that this is going on as there has purposefully been almost no mainstream media coverage of this.
A little more information about the brief before the Alabama Supreme Court.
On July 6th, Liberty Counsel, Alabama Policy Institute and Alabama Citizen’s Action Program, filed a brief to the Alabama Supreme Court asking them to consider the “decision’s substantial assault on the Rule of Law, Democracy, and Natural Law, and its necessary diminishment of the constitutional right to Free Exercise of Religion…”
The Brief is outlined as follows:
I. The petitioners (Liberty Counsel, API and ALCAP) said that the Court “should consider several important factors in determining the effect of Obergefell on this court’s existing orders.
A. The majority opinion in Obergefell is an assault on the Rule of Law.
B. The majority opinion in Obergefell is an assault on Alabamian and American Democracy.
C. The majority opinion in Obergefell is an assault on Natural Law.
D. The majority opinion in Obergefell diminishes the constitutional right of Free Exercise of Religion.
E. There is precedent for the highest court of a state to reject a U.S. Supreme Court mandate which is unlawful.
II. This Court should protect the Constitutional Rights of Alabama Probate Judges.
We pray that they will say NO to Obergefell - the same-sex marriage ruling that defied God, nature, morality, the Constitution of the United States, the democratic voice of Alabamians and centuries of precedent.
We ask them to not, by inaction of compliance, agree with the “majority” opinion of five unelected lawyers (two of whom should have recused themselves) in Obergefell. We pray that they will champion the “laws of Nature and of Nature’s God”, the Constitution of the United States, the democratic voice of their constituents, and religious freedom for every Alabamian as they did in March with a 7-1 vote.
Pray that they will remember - along with the courts that ignored Dred Scott and other such unjust opinions - that while the Supreme Court of the United States is the highest Court in the land, they have boundaries too. They are not the legislature as they cannot make law. They are not the “supreme law of the land” as they cannot trump the Constitution. They are not God as they cannot tamper with the definition of marriage He has established.
While some may cry “disobedience”, “treason”, and “defiance to the rule of law”, those who love God, America, and the law must ask, “Where?” Where is the real disobedience? Where is the real treason to all those principles that America holds dear? Where is the real violence to the rule of law? It would not be found in any Court that took steps to ignore or reverse a decision like Obergefell. Rather, in any court that affirmed it. May the Supreme Court of Alabama affirm it!!
