• Supporters, Opponents of Alabama Chief Justice Rally in Montgomery

    Defending Marriage Staff - January 12, 2016

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A group called Equality Wiregrass is rallying against Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore and his stand for the U.S. Constitution. More than 100 people with signs and posters chanted “No more Roy Moore” and passed out forms seeking his removal from office during the demonstration Tuesday at the state’s main judicial building in Montgomery.

However, a group of Moore supporters, including Tom Ford from Sanctity of Marriage Alabama, gathered in front of a church across the street in support of the Chief Justice. Here is a message received a short while ago from Sanctity of Marriage Alabama,

Equality Wiregrass, LGBT activists, pro-abortion activists, and atheist activists are uniting their voices at the Alabama Supreme Court building for an “Impeach Judge Moore” Rally (that they later changed to Remove Roy Moore Rally) today at 12 noon. There will probably be at least a hundred of them. They will be loud and defiant. They will display for the media and this state a hatred for and mockery of God, the rule of law, the institution of marriage, and one of the few men in Alabama who is standing for all three.

America and the State of Alabama face a crisis on many fronts. It is high time for us to act and we can start with a public appeal to heaven. Join us for an unofficial gathering - across from the judicial building - to stand in silent prayer. Come stand with us for Christ, God’s institution of marriage, the Constitution, the rule of law, and in support of Chief Justice Roy Moore, and the Alabama Supreme Court.

May God frustrate and confuse the plans of the wicked and may He allow His truth and message to be clearly proclaimed throughout our land, despite the media. May God cause our elected officials to stand courageously on the law of God and our land in the face of great threatening, bullying and intimidation!!

Please pray for those rallying in defense of the law of God, the U.S. Constitution, and the Constitution of Alabama. May the Lord bless their efforts.

Update: 1/13/15: Here is an update from Sanctity of Marriage Alabama, posted yesterday on their Facebook page:

Today about 150 LGBT activists, atheists, and humanists held a “Remove Roy Moore” rally at the Alabama Supreme Court. Lots of chanting. Lots of lies. Lots of blasphemy. It’s heartbreaking.

We are so thankful to the 100 who joined us across the street to pray for our nation, this State, the churches of this land, and the lost. We’re also grateful to Dean Young (Dean Young for Alabama and Congressional Candidate), Tom Ford (Pastor and Spokesperson for Sanctity of Marriage Alabama), Colonel Glenn Frazier (POW and Veteran of the Bataan Death March), Bishop Fred Adetunji (Fresh Anointing House of Worship in Montgomery), Hannah Ford (on behalf of Eagle Forum of Alabama), and Commissioner Chip Beeker (Alabama Public Service Commision), for speaking for God’s truth, marriage, and the rule of law, even as those who hate all three call for the removal of one who stands for them, Chief Justice Roy Moore. Thanks to all who stood with them.
